Online College Options for Active Duty Military?

I'm currently an active duty soldier and, as you can imagine, it's a hustle keeping up with my duties and trying to further my education. I've heard there are online colleges that accommodate us. Can anyone suggest some reputable online colleges ideal for someone active in the military? Also, are there any specific things I should consider while choosing one? Thanks!

Online education can indeed be a great fit for active duty military personnel due to its flexibility. While there are numerous options, some stand-out universities that are military-friendly include Arizona State University (ASU), Penn State World Campus, and University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC).ASU Online has been recognized for its service to the military community with more than200 degree programs. The University of Maryland Global Campus caters specifically to military and veteran students, offering degree programs that can be applied to military careers.

The Penn State World Campus collaborates closely with the military. It also has an extensive list of online degree programs available.

As for specific factors to consider in choosing an online college, a few things to think about:

1. Military tuition assistance: Be sure to explore universities that have policies accommodating military tuition assistance as this can significantly reduce education costs.

2. Credits for military training: Some schools recognize your military training and experience by converting them into course credits. This can help you graduate faster.

3. Support for military students: A college that offers resources, support, and advising for its military students can make a huge difference. This might include military-specific academic counseling, mental health resources, career services, etc.

4. Flexibility: Given your duty commitments, finding a program that allows for asynchronous learning could be highly beneficial.Remember, the best choice will depend on your personal circumstances and priorities. Good luck!
