Chances on the UCLA Transfer Waitlist?

Hey folks, getting nervous about my collegiate future here. Anybody who got off the UCLA transfer waitlist or knows someone who did? What are the chances like, and is there anything I could do to increase my odds?

Waiting on the transfer waitlist can definitely be a nerve-wracking process. Typically, the number of students accepted off the waitlist can vary greatly each year, and it's heavily dependent on the yield rate (the percentage of accepted students who choose to enroll) of the initially admitted class. Unfortunately, UCLA does not publish its waitlist acceptance numbers for transfer students, which makes it hard to accurately state your chances.

However, there are a few things you can do to potentially increase your chances. You may want to consider sending a Letter of Continued Interest (LOCI) to the admissions office. This is a formal letter where you reaffirm your strong interest in UCLA and update them on any significant academic or extracurricular achievements that have occurred since you applied. Make sure to include why UCLA is a good fit for you specifically and how you will contribute to the campus community. Remember, the goal of this letter is to show that you are still very interested in attending UCLA, and that you've continued to progress academically and personally since the initial application.

It's also a good idea to keep your grades up. UCLA will definitely want to see continued academic success throughout your current studies.

Bear in mind that while these steps can help, they don't guarantee admission. It's crucial to have a backup plan. Make sure that your current enrollment or another school you have been accepted to would still be an environment in which you could succeed and be happy.

Remember, transferring is just one pathway of many in higher education. Even if UCLA doesn't work out this year, there could be opportunities to apply again in the future, or you might find that you thrive and excel at a different institution. Best of luck!
