Experiences Being a Student at SDSU?

Hey people, I'm considering SDSU as one of my choices for college. Can any existing or former students share their experiences? What it's like in terms of academics, campus life, and opportunities?

Hello! San Diego State University is quite renowned for its programs in business, health sciences, film, and political science. The faculty is generally seasoned and most professors are passionate about their subjects, always eager to help students succeed. The student to faculty ratio is about 25:1, which means that classes might be large, especially in your first two years. This may make it a bit difficult to form close relationships with professors, but it's certainly not impossible. Getting on top of your coursework from the get-go would really help keep you on track academically.

As for student life, the campus vibrancy is definitely one of the strongest assets of SDSU. The university has over 300 student organizations, so you are likely to find something that aligns with your passions or you can even start a new one! Greek life has a strong presence, but certainly isn't the only option for social connectivity. The Aztecs (the school’s athletic teams) have a strong fan following, making sports-exciting part of campus life.

San Diego's beautiful weather makes the campus quite outdoorsy, with many students choosing to study or hang out in outdoor spaces. The city of San Diego itself has a lot to offer be it beaches, parks, music, food, you name it. It's a city that truly maximizes the college experience.

Talking about opportunities, the university's location in San Diego, which is a hub for many industries, presents numerous internship and job opportunities. SDSU has an excellent career services center that organizes job and internship fairs, and offers workshops and individual counseling.

In conclusion, SDSU offers a distinctive mix of strong academics, vibrant campus life, and access to numerous opportunities. I thoroughly recommend SDSU, but as with any university, making the most out of it depends on what you as a student choose to engage in.
