How to apply to Annapolis Military College?

You guys got any tips for applying to Annapolis Military College? It's been my dream school since forever, but I've got no clue where to begin. Do they want different things compared to the typical university application?

Applying to the United States Naval Academy (which I'm assuming you're referring to as Annapolis Military College) can indeed be a unique process compared to typical universities. Here are some steps and tips to help guide you:

1. Application: The application process begins during the spring of your junior year in high school. You start by completing a preliminary application, which is available on the USNA's website.

2. Nomination: This is unique to military academies. You will need to secure a nomination from a nominating authority, which can usually be your U.S. Representative, your two U.S. Senators, or the Vice President of the United States. Be sure to request nominations from all available sources to increase your chances.

3. Interviews: Another difference from typical universities is that you not only have an interview for your nomination but also for your application. You'll have an interview with a Blue and Gold Officer, who is a local alumni representative for the USNA.

4. Standardized Testing: For the 2024-2025 application cycle, the USNA requires either the SAT or ACT. Unlike some schools, they super-score both tests, meaning they take the best results from each section, regardless of the testing date.

5. Extracurriculars: As with any selective college, the Naval Academy wants students who excel outside of academics too, with a particular focus on athletics and leadership roles.

6. Medical Examinations: Candidates need to pass a medical exam administered by the Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board.

7. Candidate Fitness Assessment: Applicants are required to pass a fitness test, which measures strength, speed, endurance, and agility.

8. Personal Statement: Thoughtfully express your motivations for attending the Naval Academy and how you could contribute to their mission.

Remember, it's a very selective process, but if it's your dream, it's definitely worth applying! Make sure to showcase your leadership skills, commitment to service, and other qualities aligned with the Academy's mission. Review the USNA's website thoroughly and consider reaching out to your local admissions representative for personalized guidance. Good luck!
