What are some good colleges to consider while serving in the military?

Hey guys, I'm currently serving and want to pursue college education on the side. Could anyone recommend some universities that are known for accommodating servicemembers well? I'm still undecided on my major, so a range of good programs is a plus!

Sure, there are a number of universities acclaimed for their quality education and understanding towards servicemembers' unique needs. Funding options and flexibility are vital components for members of the military who plan to study while serving.

To start, Columbia University offers the School of General Studies which specifically designed for non-traditional students, including veterans and active-duty military personnel. Columbia GS supports flexible part-time options, so you can take classes during your off-duty hours. Furthermore, the curriculum is broad with programs ranging from humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences to name a few, allowing undecided students like you to explore different interests.

Penn State's World Campus is another excellent choice. Penn State World Campus is recognized for the commitment to military and veteran students, providing a multitude of degrees across several disciplines. The online format offers flexibility for servicemembers who may have unpredictable schedules.

Arizona State University (ASU) also shines for its comprehensive offerings and support for military students. ASU Online provides numerous degree programs, championing adaptability more so for military servicemembers.

Also of note is the University of Southern California (USC). Its online school, USC Online, presents over 80 degree programs, covering popular fields like business, computer science, education, engineering, and social work.

Another option is the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC). Specifically crafted with military members in mind, UMGC's classes can be taken either online or at satellite campuses around the world. The university offers a plethora of degree programs, giving you flexibility to explore potential paths.

Finally, Embry-Riddle Worldwide caters to servicemembers through its extensive online offerings, particularly if you have an interest in aeronautics or engineering.

These institutions not only provide diverse academic paths but are also highly attuned to the special circumstances, funds like GI Bill, and educational requirements of military personnel. Whichever you choose, be sure to make use of available resources, such as taking advantage of advising from experienced staff to help map the right path for you.
