Which Virginia colleges are best for military students?

Hey everybody, I am in the military and looking to enroll in a Virginia college cause that's where I'm stationed. Anyone have any recommendations for which colleges are particularly good for military students in Virginia? I would love to hear some experiences or opinions.

Virginia is home to many colleges and universities that have programs designed for military students, and they are generally known for their commitment to supporting military community members. While the best school depends on what you're looking for in terms of academic programming, size, and setting, here's a look at a few institutions in Virginia that might be worth considering:

1. George Mason University: Located in Fairfax, GMU established the Veterans and the Military Services office to help its military students with everything from educational benefits to transitioning into campus life. The institution offers credit for military training and education which can give you a head start on your degree. They feature both online and on-campus classes for flexibility.

2. Old Dominion University: ODU in Norfolk, a proud "Military Friendly" school, has a large military-affiliated student population. They offer a dedicated Military Connection Center and the Veterans Bachelor of Science in Nursing pathway, among other supportive services. They also offer many online degree programs which can provide flexibility if you expect to relocate or deploy.

3. Virginia Tech: Located in Blacksburg, Virginia Tech offers a Corps of Cadets program that prepares students to be global, ethical leaders in their careers. They also facilitate the process of obtaining military benefits and scholarships.

4. Liberty University: Located in Lynchburg, Liberty University has been recognized as one of the nation's top military-friendly schools. They offer tuition discounts for service members, military spouses, and veterans, as well as an office dedicated to assisting military students.

5. University of Mary Washington: Located in Fredericksburg, UMW has a dedicated Office of Veterans Services that helps military members navigate their specific needs. They offer a veteran-friendly campus and strong programs such as Business Administration and Psychology.

These schools all have a solid reputation for serving military students. Be sure to reach out directly to these schools, talk with the veterans' services offices, and visit the campuses if possible to see if one of them feels like a good fit for you!
