Best English Program in Texas Colleges?

I'm a rising 11th grader and English's kind of been my thing since forever. I'm from Texas and plan on staying here for college. Any advice on which Texas colleges have the best programs for English majors?

If you're looking for top-notch English programs within Texas, here are few institutions that are consistently praised for their excellent English departments:

1. University of Texas at Austin: Known for having a renowned English department. They offer a broad variety of courses and many opportunities for research and internships. Additionally, they have a highly-ranked Creative Writing program if you're interested in that aspect of English studies.

2. Rice University: Another university esteemed for its humanities programs. The English major at Rice offers study in a range of eras and genres, with a faculty known for their research and teaching. The smaller student-to-faculty ratio also allows for a more personalized education.

3. Southern Methodist University: SMU offers a Bachelor of Arts in English with a rigorous curriculum and the opportunity to specialize in various fields, including creative writing and literature.

4. Texas A&M University: This university has a strong English department with an emphasis on critical thinking, research, and communication skills. Their faculty are known for their engagement with students.

5. University of Houston: It’s also worth noting UH's Creative Writing program, if you're considering that path. They offer workshops in all the literary genres and host a vibrant visiting writers series, which could be hugely beneficial to an aspiring writer.

Remember, the "best" program is subjective and depends on what you're looking for in a program and university. I would encourage you to explore the department websites, see what courses and specializations they offer, and consider if the university's overall environment aligns with your goals and preferences. Best of luck with your college search!
