Best small colleges for aspiring Science majors?

Hello! I'm currently a rising junior in high school with a strong interest in the sciences. I feel like I would thrive more in a smaller college environment. Does anyone have recommendations for small colleges that excel in the Science department?

Sure, there are several small colleges that have excellent programs for science majors! Some of them include:

1. Harvey Mudd College: A part of the Claremont Colleges consortium, Harvey Mudd is particularly known for its rigorous curriculum in science, math, and engineering. It's also prized for its emphasis on research and a strong liberal arts curriculum to balance out the intensive science courses.

2. Amherst College: While it's a liberal arts college, it has strong programs in the sciences and a commitment to undergraduate research. It's also part of the Five College Consortium offering you greater course choice.

3. Swarthmore College: Another liberal arts college with outstanding sciences. It also provides the option of a special honors program where you can work closely with faculty.

4. Carleton College: Known for a strong emphasis on undergraduate teaching, Carleton offers numerous research opportunities in the sciences as well.

5. Williams College: It's praised for its strong science programs. This school has the oldest undergraduate lab for astronomical research in the U.S., along with the resources of a major research university in a small college setting.

6. Bowdoin College: With a flexible yet challenging curriculum, Bowdoin has strong programs in environmental science, biology, and chemistry.

Keep in mind that these are all highly selective schools, so you'll need strong grades and test scores (if applicable), along with some robust extracurricular activities to be competitive. As you consider which college to attend, make sure to also take into account factors like location, campus culture, and financial aid opportunities. Good luck with your college search!
