Where to Find Colleges That Offer Military Courses?

Hey there! I'm looking to combine my passion for the military with a future career path, and I'm curious about colleges that offer military courses as part of their curriculum. Do you folks have any recommendations on where to start searching or specific programs that you know of?

There are several great ways to integrate military studies into your college curriculum. You can consider colleges that have Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs, Military colleges, or civilian colleges that offer Military Science or similar programs as majors or minors.

1. ROTC Programs: These programs are available at many colleges and universities and offer scholarships to students who commit to military service after graduation. There are ROTC programs for each branch of the military (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard). They will provide you with military training along with your regular course of study.

2. Military Colleges: There are also specific military colleges, such as the U.S. Military Academy (Army, also known as West Point), U.S. Naval Academy (Navy and Marines), U.S. Air Force Academy (Air Force), U.S. Coast Guard Academy (Coast Guard), and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy that can provide an intensely focused military and academic experience.

3. Civilian Colleges: Finally, many civilian colleges offer military science programs that provide a comprehensive understanding of military theory, history, science, and practice. For example, Norwich University offers a major in studies in war and peace, Ohio State offers a program in Military History through their Department of History.

You can start by identifying which branch of the military you are most interested in and researching colleges that have ROTC programs, military science programs, or are military academies for that specific branch. The College Navigator tool from the National Center for Education Statistics allows you to search for programs by specific criteria, and individual college websites should provide detailed information about their offerings.
