College in Oregon paid for by the military, possible?

Hello folks, I'm from Oregon and have been considering joining the military, with the thought of possibly having them pay for my college education. Does anyone know if this is feasible?

Definitely! The military offers several programs and scholarships that can help cover the cost of your college education.

Under the Post-9/11 GI Bill, active duty service members and veterans can receive up to 36 months of benefits, which can cover tuition and fees, housing, and books and supplies. The amount of benefits you can receive depends on your length of service. You can find more information on the VA website or by contacting your local VA office.

There is also the ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) scholarships. The Army, Navy (which also includes Marine), and Air Force each have their own ROTC programs that offer full-tuition scholarships, stipends, and other benefits.

Another program to consider is the Military Tuition Assistance Program, which can cover up to 100% of tuition expenses for active duty, National Guard, and Reserve Component service members.

Just a caveat though, do bear in mind that these scholarships and benefits often come with required service commitments, so it's critical to fully understand the obligations before committing. You might want to seek advice from a military recruiter or career counselor to guide you through these options.

It's worth mentioning that some colleges in Oregon, like University of Oregon and Oregon State University, have ROTC programs on campus if that's a direction you're considering. Hopefully, you find the kind of support you need to fulfill your academic goals with the military's help!
