Military Recognition in Colleges

Hello everyone, which colleges out there explicitly recognize military colleges and their credentials?

Many colleges and universities in the United States offer military-friendly programs and take the experience gained in military training and education into serious consideration. This recognition can come in various forms such as transfer credits for military training, flexible course scheduling, or programs designed to accommodate veterans.

A few schools that explicitly recognize military education and experience include:

1. American Military University (AMU) and American Public University (APU): These are completely online institutions that serve the needs of military servicemembers, offering credits for military training and experience.

2. Excelsior College: This school offers an extensive credit transfer program for military service, including both coursework done in the military and occupational training.

3. University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC): Known for their commitment to serving veterans and active servicemembers, UMGC evaluates military training and occupations for college credit in its programs.

4. Thomas Edison State University: This university has a specific policy where they recognize military training and offer credits for such.

Even though these institutions and several other colleges have policies recognizing military training, I advise that any military personnel or veteran interested in furthering their education conduct thorough research on the specific policies of the schools they are interested in.

In doing so, be sure to look out for institutions that participate in Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) consortium and the Yellow Ribbon Program, both of which aim to help military personnel transition into college. Furthermore, you might want to check whether the school has an office or personnel dedicated to assisting military and veteran students.
