Insights on Dartmouth's Military Programs

Hey guys, I've been looking into colleges that support the ROTC program as I am seriously considering a military career after college. I recently came across Dartmouth and heard that they have military programs. Can anyone share their experience or knowledge about these programs at Dartmouth? How's the support and community there for military students? Looking forward to your replies.

Dartmouth does indeed support the ROTC program. The ROTC departments at Dartmouth are the Navy/Marine Corps and Army. If you're thinking about an Air Force career, Dartmouth doesn't directly offer an Air Force ROTC program; however, you can take part in the Air Force ROTC program at Norwich University, another school in the area.

As for how the school supports the ROTC program, Dartmouth actually provides a pretty unique opportunity. ROTC students at Dartmouth are able to participate in regular college activities while also preparing for their future military careers. The school supports these students by allowing some flexibility in their schedules, which is important given the additional demands of the ROTC program.

In terms of community, the Dartmouth ROTC program isn't huge, so you can expect to be part of a close-knit group. Dartmouth also has a variety of veterans networks and support groups that can be very beneficial and supportive for students considering or committed to a military path.

A notably strong point about Dartmouth's ROTC program is its emphasis on leadership. As a liberal arts institution, Dartmouth strongly encourages critical thinking and the development of strong communication skills, which are vital leadership attributes you'd need in a military career.

Overall, Dartmouth appears to combine a strong academic program with a comprehensive military training program, which seems like a great option for students looking at a career in the military. Good luck with your research.
