Hey guys! I'm a junior really interested in Zoology. I live in California and prefer to stay here for college. Hence, does anyone know which colleges offer the best Zoology programs in California?

Hello! If you're looking to stay in California and are interested in studying Zoology, there are few excellent options you might consider.

University of California-Davis is well-known for its Animal Science program which is quite closely related to Zoology. It's not strict Zoology, but you will receive comprehensive animal studies education that covers physiology, behavior, and conservation. UC Davis has a real strength in agricultural and environmental sciences, and Animal Science is among the highly ranked programs.

University of California- Santa Barbara also has a strong Ecology and Evolutionary Biology program if you're interested in studying animals in their habitats and understanding the evolution of species.

Humboldt State University, part of the California State University system, offers a dedicated Zoology major. The program focuses on research and fieldwork opportunities, which would give you hands-on experience.

San Francisco State University is another CSU school with a Zoology major. The program covers all aspects of animal biology, including anatomy, physiology, behavior, ecology, and evolution, among other topics. The program would prepare you for a variety of careers in the life sciences field.

Also, while it doesn't exactly have a strict "Zoology" program, Stanford University's Department of Biology is highly regarded and offers an "Ecology and Evolution" track which could cover much of what you're interested in with regards to Zoology.

Lastly, you might consider Pomona College, one of the Claremont Colleges. Their Biology program has the flexibility to cater to a student's individual interests with courses on animal behavior, marine biology, and ecology.

Remember that the best program isn't necessarily the highest-ranked one, but the one that fits your academic and career goals best. Good luck with your search!
