College majors beneficial for veterans

Hey Guys, I'm a veteran considering going back to school. Any recommendations on what majors would best benefit a military veteran and could make use of the skills and experiences I've gained during service?

Studying after service can be a powerful way to transfer military experiences and skills into civilian roles. When choosing a major, it largely depends on your interests, past experiences, and career goals. However, below are a few fields that often align well with the skills and experiences of military veterans:

1. Criminal Justice: Many veterans lean towards this major because of its alignment with the discipline, structure, and value for law and order that military service often instills.

2. Business: Many elements from military service - leadership, organization, and strategic planning, to name a few - are directly applicable to the business world. A degree in business administration or management could pave the way for various opportunities in the corporate sector.

3. Information Technology/Computer Science: A lot of military roles involve working with advanced technologies. These skills are increasingly in demand, and a degree in the field of technology or computer science can help to formalize that knowledge.

4. Engineering: Many military roles require a deep understanding of logistics, machinery, and technical equipment. Degrees like civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering can continue to leverage these skills in a new context.

5. Healthcare: If you were involved in a healthcare role within the military, or if you're driven to help others, healthcare might be a good fit. This could lead to roles in nursing, healthcare administration, or even continue on to medical school.

Remember: the best major for you depends on your personal aspirations and the unique skills and experiences you gained during your service. Take some time to reflect on what you enjoyed about your military career and where you see yourself in the future. This could provide a good starting point in choosing a major.
