Choosing the right college for studying Chinese History?

I'm really fascinated by Chinese history and want to possibly major in it. Does anyone know which colleges are known for strong programs in this area?

Sure, there are quite a few colleges recognized for excelling in the field of East Asian or specifically Chinese History.

One great option is Yale University, which offers an East Asian Studies major. It has a notable faculty in Chinese History and a large variety of classes to choose from, ranging from ancient Chinese civilization to modern Chinese history.

Stanford University also has a strong program, known as the East Asian Studies program. Its focus on interdisciplinary approach allows you to delve deep into Chinese History while also exploring related fields like art, literature, and philosophy.

Furthermore, Columbia University's East Asian Languages and Cultures Department is highly ranked and offers an East Asian Studies major with a concentration in Chinese History. They offer a wide range of classes on Chinese History, from the earliest periods to the present, and the program includes study abroad options in China as well.

In addition, University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) offers a major in Asian Studies with a concentration on China, which includes many classes on different aspects of Chinese history.

Lastly, consider Harvard University, which has robust offerings in East Asian Languages and Civilizations (EALC), providing students with both a broad overview and an in-depth study of China's rich historical tapestry.

Remember that when choosing a college, you should also consider factors like overall fit, financial aid, location, class size, and opportunities for research or internships. All these can greatly affect your overall undergraduate experience.
