Ideal college majors for an INTP individual?

Hi there. I'm an INTP and I can't really figure out what my ideal college major would be. Does anyone have recommendations based on this personality type? What college majors have other INTPs found rewarding or fulfilling? Thanks for your help!

As an INTP (Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, Perceiving), your intellectual curiosity and abstract thinking align with several fields of study. However, it's important to remember that your MBTI type doesn't dictate your future, and you might find fulfillment in a field outside of these recommendations. Genuine love for your chosen field matters more than fitting it into a personality box.

That said, if you want an initial list to kick off your brainstorming, here are some suggestions:

1. Computer Science: Many INTPs thrive in the world of algorithms, coding, and systems which aligns well with computer science. The problem-solving and logical nature of coding could mesh well with your INTP traits.

2. Psychology or Sociology: Your introspective and perceptive nature might draw you towards understanding human behavior and society. These fields can satisfy your innate curiosity and quest for knowledge of intricate systems.

3. Philosophy: The INTP individual often enjoys analyzing complex problems and exploring abstract ideas, which philosophy offers in abundance. This field can engage your interest in theoretical concepts.

4. Physics or Mathematics: The systematic nature of these subjects often appeals to an INTP's logical, analytical nature and interest in solving complex problems.

5. Writing or Journalism: Your independent mindset can work to your advantage in the field of writing. You can leverage your strengths of deep thinking and ability to see various perspectives in writing pieces that are unique and insightful.

In all, it's your passion and interest in the subject matter that should guide your decision to pick a major. You may want to take classes in these areas to see where your interest truly lies before declaring a major. Remember, your personality type can help guide your decision, but shouldn't be the deciding factor - all fields have enough niches to explore and opportunities for interdisciplinary learning that you'll be able to apply your strengths in just about any major.

Best of luck with your decision!
