Theatre College Suggestions in Cali?

I've been into theatre all my life and I'm hoping to find a college where I can really grow into my own as an actor/director. Does anyone have suggestions for the best colleges for theatre in California? I'm particular on California since it's so close to the film industry and all.

Absolutely, you have a great range of choices in California for studying theatre. Here's a quick breakdown of some standout programs:

- University of Southern California (USC): Known for its strong connections to the film and entertainment industry, USC's School of Dramatic Arts offers BFA programs in Acting for Stage and Screen and Musical Theatre; BA programs in Theatre and Visual and Performing Arts, and even an MFA in Acting.

- UCLA: UCLA's School of Theater, Film, and Television provides a BA in Theater and a MFA in Acting, and is well-regarded for its strong faculty and alumni network in the entertainment industry.

- California Institute of the Arts (CalArts): It offers highly regarded programs in theater and is known for fostering experimental and avant-garde work.

- Stanford University: While it doesn't have a distinct theatre major, the program in Theater and Performance Studies is quite strong and integrates both practical and theoretical learning, if you're interested in a more academic approach to the field.

Remember, when choosing a program, look beyond just the course content and consider factors such as opportunities for hands-on experience, connections to the industry, and the career paths of past graduates. You might consider reaching out to each school's admissions office, or their theatre department directly, with any specific questions you have.

Finally, if you're looking for ways to pursue your passion for theatre while still in high school, check out this blog post from CollegeVine, which lists a range of arts-related summer programs for high schoolers: https://blog.collegevine.com/high-school-art-summer-programs/. Many of them will allow you to focus on theatre specifically, and participating in one could even give you a boost during the college process, as admissions officers love to see that you're taking initiative and exploring your interests outside of the classroom!

Good luck with your future theatrical endeavors!
