Hey all, I'm a junior considering a major in Government. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on what colleges tend to excel in this major? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Absolutely, let's dive into some schools that have highly regarded programs in Government and/or Political Science.

Harvard University's Government department is one of the oldest and most esteemed in the world. Its faculty members are pioneers in their field, and there are vast opportunities for research and internships. The department gives students an in-depth understanding of political theory, American politics, international relations, and comparative government.

Princeton University also has an acclaimed Politics department. It's unique in the sense that it encourages interdisciplinary studies, allowing students to explore areas such as economics, psychology, sociology, history, philosophy, and public affairs alongside their Politics major. This can be a great fit if you're not only interested in government but also the impact it has across various domains of society.

Stanford University's Political Science department is historically rated as one of the best. The university's location in Silicon Valley offers students a unique perspective on the impact of technology on government and policy-making.

Georgetown University's Government major, part of their renowned School of Foreign Service, is another top program to consider. Being located in Washington, D.C. can provide extensive opportunities for internships, advocacy roles, and observing government action firsthand.

Lastly, University of California—Berkeley's Political Science department is known for its strong emphasis on research and its diverse array of course offerings. Moreover, being in California, students have a unique opportunity to study and experience state and local government in one of the nation's most populous and politically active states.

Keep in mind that the best program for you also depends heavily on your specific interests within government/political science as well as the learning environment that fits you best. These are just a few examples of what's out there!
