Arkansas colleges for history majors?

Hows it going? AR resident here, absolutely love history, and I want to stay in-state for my college journey. Anyone know any good colleges for history majors right here in Arkansas?

Sure, there are several great institutions in Arkansas where you could pursue your interest in history.

1. University of Arkansas - Fayetteville: This is likely your top choice considering its broad range of history courses and faculty specialization. They offer both Bachelors and Masters programs in history, with concentrations in American history, European history, and World history.

2. Hendrix College: Located in Conway, Hendrix is a private liberal arts college that also has a strong history department. It's known for its engaging, discussion-based classes and strong sense of community.

3. Arkansas State University: Based in Jonesboro, this public university offers a BA in History. They have interesting courses like Ancient Civilizations and The Vietnam War.

4. Ouachita Baptist University: If you are considering a private institution, you may also want to look at Ouachita Baptist. It is located in Arkadelphia, AR and offers history as one of its majors.

Do bear in mind that when looking for a college program, you should not only focus on the program itself. Consider parameters like internship opportunities, faculty expertise, study abroad opportunities, overall college environment, and financial feasibility. You can reach out to these colleges, ask them for course content, syllabuses, and maybe even get in touch with some current students or alumni to get an insider’s view. This will help you have a comprehensive understanding of what to expect.
