Top Journalism and Communications Programs in California?

Hey all, I'm currently a junior in high school and I'm really passionate about journalism and communications. I live in California and wanted to stay within the state for college. Can anyone give me some insight into which colleges have the best programs for this?

Absolutely, it's excellent to see your interest in journalism and communications, and there are a number of excellent programs within California.

Firstly, University of Southern California (USC) boasts an excellent Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. It's highly respected and offers a variety of majors including journalism and public relations. USC's Annenberg School is well-known, offering a large network of alumni and professional connections that will give you invaluable opportunities for internships and hands-on experience in your chosen field.

University of California, Berkeley also shines, with its Graduate School of Journalism that's highly ranked nationally. While its journalism program is technically a graduate degree, undergraduates can study media studies which gives a solid preparation for the graduate school.

Additionally, Stanford University should be considered. While Stanford doesn't technically offer journalism as an undergraduate major, they do have a top-notch Communications major for undergraduates that covers significant aspects of journalism.

Lastly, San Diego State University and Cal State Long Beach both offer strong journalism programs with a practical, hands-on approach, and might be a good fit if you're looking for a public university option.

It's important to visit these schools, if you can, and speak to students in the program to figure out which one would be the best fit for you. Good luck!
