Best Soccer Programs in California Colleges?

Hey, soccer has always been a big part of my life and I'd love to be able to continue playing in college. I'm researching the best soccer programs at colleges in California. Any pointers on where should I be focusing my search?

There are several schools with strong soccer programs in California, and this research could be categorized in two ways: NCAA Division I and NCAA Division II/III schools.

In the NCAA Division I category, several California schools have renowned soccer programs. For men’s soccer, UC Santa Barbara and Stanford University have both been successful in recent years. On the women's side, Stanford’s program has been consistently strong, winning a number of NCAA championships. UCLA also has strong soccer programs for both men and women.

In terms of NCAA Division II and III colleges, the University of Redlands, Claremont McKenna College, Harvey Mudd, and Scripps Colleges offer competitive programs. These colleges provide an academic-focused experience, and so competition may be less intense than in Division I schools.

However, remember to consider more than just the team's success. It's also important to research the coaching staff, the team culture, facilities, and athletic scholarships. Additionally, your academic interests should align with the school’s offerings. For instance, if you're interested in studying business, Stanford's program is ranked one of the best in the nation.

Lastly, try to reach out to current players or alumni. They can provide firsthand insight which may be helpful for you to understand the team and the school.
