How does my 1000 PSAT score factor into my college prep plan?

Feeling a bit stressed here, just got my PSAT score back and it's a 1000. I'm in my junior year and thinking about how this affects my college prep. It's not the score I hoped for and I'm wondering how to interpret this in terms of where I stand? Should I consider this an urgent wake-up call for the SAT, or could this still be a decent starting point?

It's completely understandable to feel anxious about your scores, but know that a 1000 on the PSAT can serve as a beneficial starting point for your SAT prep. This score offers a benchmark for where you're currently at and indicates areas where you can focus your study efforts.

The good news is that with dedicated preparation, you have the potential to significantly improve your SAT score. You could consider this a gentle prompt rather than an 'urgent wake-up call.' Begin by reviewing which sections you found more challenging and target those areas in your studies.

There are many resources available to you, such as free online practice tools, SAT prep books, and possibly prep courses if that's something that might benefit you. Also, reach out to your school counselor; they can provide additional guidance and support. Be sure to check out CollegeVine's many articles with SAT tips and advice: https://blog.collegevine.com/category/standardized-tests/sat-guides/

Setting up a study schedule and sticking to it will be key. Remember, the SAT is just one aspect of your application, and colleges will look at the full picture of who you are. Don't be too hard on yourself; use this as a motivator. You've got this!
