Is a 34 ACT score competitive for Ivy League admissions?

Hey everyone, I'm a junior looking at colleges, and I recently got a 34 on the ACT. Do you think this score is competitive for Ivy League schools, or should I consider retaking it? I know these schools are super selective, and I'm trying to gauge where I stand. I've been involved in a lot of extracurriculars and have a pretty strong GPA, but I'm not sure how much that balances out my ACT score. Thoughts?

Congratulations on scoring a 34 on the ACT—that's an amazing achievement! To put it in perspective, the middle 50% of ACT scores for admitted students to Ivy League schools usually ranges from 32-35. This means your score is already within the competitive range for these institutions.

Remember, while test scores are important, Ivy League schools review applications holistically, taking into account your academic record, extracurricular involvement, essays, and letters of recommendation. Since you mentioned you're involved in many extracurriculars and have a strong GPA, you're likely a well-rounded candidate, which is a positive indicator.

If you think you can increase your score and it won't interfere with other college prep activities, retaking the ACT might be beneficial. However, your current score is certainly within the competitive ballpark for Ivies. Now would be a good time to focus on maintaining your GPA and further developing your extracurricular profile to build a compelling application. Best of luck!
