Need some insight: Are CLEP exams proctored and how does that work?

So I'm thinking about knocking out some gen eds with CLEP exams, but I'm not super familiar with the logistics. Are they proctored? If so, how does that usually work—is it online or do I need to go somewhere? Any experiences would be awesome!

Absolutely, CLEP exams are indeed proctored exams designed to ensure the integrity and security of the testing process. You'll need to take them at an official CLEP test center, which could be a college or university testing center or another approved location. They aren’t offered online for remote proctoring at this time.

When you register for an exam on the College Board’s CLEP website, you can find a list of nearby test centers. On the day of the exam, you will have to present a valid government-issued photo ID, and you'll be monitored during the test either by a person or through video surveillance to make sure the testing guidelines are followed.

Many students find the scheduling process quite flexible, and the experience is pretty much like any other standardized test you might have taken. Just ensure you arrive prepared and give yourself plenty of time to go through the check-in process. Good luck with your exams!
