Will my PSAT score show up on my high school transcript?

I'm in a bit of a pickle because I didn't do as well as I wanted on the PSAT. Now I’m worried – is my PSAT score going to appear on my high school transcript, or is it separate and only for personal knowledge?

No worries, your PSAT score won't appear on your high school transcript. Transcripts typically include your grades, class rank, and sometimes standardized test scores like the SAT or ACT if you choose to add them. However, the PSAT is a preliminary test and its scores are primarily used to determine eligibility for National Merit Scholarships as well as to give you an indicator of how you might do on the SAT.

Your high school, colleges, and universities will not see your PSAT score unless you share it with them, which is not normally required. Keep in mind that the PSAT is primarily a learning tool, and it's great practice for the SAT—use your results to guide your study efforts, rather than getting too down on yourself for not getting the score you wanted. Don’t fret—you have time to improve before your actual SAT!
