Best colleges for history majors in Colorado?

Hello! Anyone knows what Colorado colleges are known for strong history programs? I'm considering staying in-state for college. Would love some recommendations.

It's good to see that you're interested in pursuing a major in history and looking for strong programs in Colorado. Two schools that frequently come up as having strong history programs are the University of Colorado Boulder and Colorado State University.

The University of Colorado Boulder offers both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in history. Their history department is ranked nationally and has a strong faculty with diverse research areas ranging from ancient to modern history across various regions and themes. The department also offers an Honors Program and encourages active learning through internships and study abroad programs.

On the other hand, Colorado State University's history program is known for its depth and breadth. You can choose to study a vast range of topics, from global histories to very specific areas like public history, which focuses on applying historical skills in community settings. CSU also provides opportunities for undergraduate research and internships which allow students to get hands-on experience in their field.

Another university worth mentioning is the University of Denver, where the history department puts an emphasis on research and allows students to customize their academic plan according to their historical interests. They also offer a dual degree program where you can earn both a BA and MA in history in five years.

Each of these schools have their own strengths and learning environments, so I'd recommend visiting the campuses to see which one feels like the best fit for you. On your visit, try to sit in on a history class or meet with faculty to get a sense of the department. In the end, it's important to choose a college where you feel comfortable and supported, as well as intellectually challenged.
