Best colleges to consider for Nutrition majors in California?

As a junior, I've been spending the quarantine period exploring colleges and noticed that I'm genuinely interested in pursuing a nutrition major. However, I'm having trouble pinpointing colleges in California that are recognized for their nutrition programs. Can anyone lend a hand?

Certainly, it's a great time to narrow down on universities and their programs. In California, there are several universities with stellar Nutrition programs that I'd recommend you check out.

First off, the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) offers a wonderful Nutritional Science program. The program focuses on understanding the complex relationships between diet, health, and disease. You may want to note this is a popular program, and UC Berkeley is renowned for its overall STEM education.

Meanwhile, the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) has a very unique Nutrition major as part of their College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. The program is unusual because it lets students delve into nutrition from underline causes of malnutrition and obesity from an agriculture and environmental perspective.

Lastly, San Diego State University (SDSU) is another California university with a well-regarded Nutrition program. The Foods and Nutrition program is under the College of Health and Human Services, and there are opportunities for hands-on experience in their Research Foundation.

While deciding, consider factors like faculty, related research happening at the school, and opportunities for internships or practicums. Checking out the course components and talking to current students or alumni could also be beneficial. Hopefully, this information helps you find a program that aligns with your interests and career goals!
