Education Programs Worth Checking Out in Indiana?

Hi folks! I'm a junior right now, set on becoming a teacher. I'm based in Indiana, and I am trying to understand better which colleges around here are known for their education programs. Any recommendations would be so helpful!

Certainly! Indiana is home to a number of reputable institutions with noteworthy education programs.

Starting with the public schools, Indiana University Bloomington is often highlighted as it offers a variety of programs in education. It has many different concentration options for those wishing to specialize in areas such as Secondary Math Education or Elementary Education.

In addition, Purdue University in West Lafayette also has a strong College of Education, offering undergraduate programs in areas such as Learning Design and Technology, along with traditional teaching fields.

If you are considering smaller, private colleges, Butler University in Indianapolis has a highly-regarded College of Education. Their education School Counseling program is especially noteworthy.

One last suggestion would be the University of Notre Dame, specifically for its Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) program. This is a two-year fellowship where you receive a master’s degree in education, serve as a full-time teacher at an under-resourced Catholic school, and live in community with other ACE teachers. This is a great option if you have interest in Catholic education or desire a hands-on teaching experience soon after undergrad.

I'd strongly advise visiting these colleges (if possible), talking to students in their education programs, and researching each program's curriculum and field-work requirements. This will help you get a sense of which program and environment feels right for you. These are all great options, each with their own strengths, so it depends on what you're hoping to get from your college education and teaching career.
