Top Tennessee Colleges for Biology Major

I'm a real science nerd, especially biology. Since I'm already in Tennessee, I think I'd prefer a college close to home. Can anyone recommend some of the top colleges in Tennessee for a major in biology?

Sure, I can certainly offer some suggestions!

One of the top schools in Tennessee to consider for Biology is Vanderbilt University. They have a strong Biology department with numerous research opportunities for undergraduates due to the university's emphasis on research and its proximity to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville also has a robust Biological Sciences program, offering a variety of concentrations within the major to tailor your curriculum to your specific interests and career goals. Its location near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park also provides excellent opportunities for field studies and research.

Rhodes College in Memphis also has a strong Biology program, with offerings in cellular and molecular biology, ecology and evolutionary biology, and neuroscience. They emphasize hands-on learning and even give students the opportunity to conduct independent research.

Sewanee: The University of the South is another strong choice. Their biology program is well-regarded and offers a comprehensive curriculum, small class sizes, and opportunities for student-faculty research.

Remember to look beyond just the academic program. Consider each school's campus culture, location, size, and opportunities for involvement outside of the classroom as these factors can significantly impact your college experience.
