Louisiana colleges for psychology

I'm a Louisiana resident and I would love to stay local for college. Can anyone recommend some good Louisiana colleges that have a strong psychology department?

Certainly! Louisiana has quite a few reputable institutions known for their strong psychology programs.

Firstly, Tulane University, located in New Orleans, offers both a B.A. and B.S. in Psychology. Their psychology department is known for its comprehensive curriculum that stresses critical thinking, research skills, and understanding of diverse populations. One unique aspect of the program is its strong commitment to service learning. This means many of your courses will offer opportunities to engage in communities and service organizations around New Orleans, providing hands-on experience.

Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge is also a great choice. LSU offers an undergraduate psychology program with an option to concentrate in different areas, including Behavioral Neuroscience, Clinical Psychology, Population Health Psychology, just to name a few. They also promote active involvement in faculty research projects from freshman year, a standout feature for those wanting to gain an in-depth understanding of the field.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL Lafayette) also shines in its department of Psychology boasting faculty with a wide range of research specializations. Additionally, as a UL Lafayette student, you'll have the opportunity to earn academic credit while gaining real-world experience by interning with a local human services agency.

For a slightly smaller campus environment, Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport offers a comprehensive undergraduate psychology program. Here, students have opportunities for field lab experience, independent research, and internships within the community.

Each of these institutions offers a unique program with different resources, so I'd advise researching each one further to find the best fit for your specific interests and career goals within psychology.
