Wisconsin, Here I Come - But which university for Psychology?

Wisconsin has my heart, and I'm planning to stay within the state for college. I'm hoping to major in Psychology, and I want a college that not only has a great program but also has supportive faculty and loads of opportunity for research or internships. Any suggestions or personal experiences anyone can share?

The University of Wisconsin-Madison has a fantastic psychology program that you should seriously consider. Their program is ranked highly nationally, and it's known for its rigorous academic curriculum, supportive faculty, and research opportunities. In fact, the program places a high emphasis on research and many psychology students end up participating in research projects.

They also offer a Psychology Club, which organizes various events related to psychology career paths and graduate schools, as well as hosts presentations from professionals in the field. Being an active member could serve as a great networking opportunity. Since Madison is a larger city, it may also offer more internship opportunities, especially in social services, healthcare, or corporate settings.

Another in-state option is Marquette University. While Marquette may be less known for its psychology program than UW-Madison, it still offers a strong curriculum and ample research opportunities due to its connection to the medical school.

In terms of support, many students report that Marquette's smaller class sizes allow for more individual attention from professors. It's also worth noting that Marquette has a strong emphasis on service and community engagement, which might allow you to apply your psychology knowledge in a real-world context.

Lastly, remember to visit each campus (if possible) to get a feel for the environment. Academics are important, but you'll also want to ensure you'll be comfortable and happy at the university you attend. Good luck with your college journey!
