Choosing a top Cambridge college for psychology

Hey all. I'm quite invested in psychology. When I was looking for some of the top colleges, the University of Cambridge was a name that repeatedly popped up. How do I determine which would be the best college at Cambridge for psychology? Any specific terms I need to pay attention to or questions I should ask? Thanks!

In answer to your question, it's important to note that the University of Cambridge operates on a collegiate system, meaning undergraduate students apply to specific colleges within the University rather than the University as a whole. However, the timings of lectures, seminars, and supervision (i.e., small group teaching) are all administered centrally by the University departments, in your case, the Department of Psychology.

Regardless of the college you're in, students follow the same curriculum and have access to the same teaching resources. So, in the case of Cambridge, all colleges will offer the same psychology education.

Instead, when choosing a college, you may want to consider factors such as the size of the college, the facilities available, location, and accommodation. For instance, some students may prefer smaller, more intimate colleges like Corpus Christi or Jesus, and others might prefer larger ones like Trinity or King's.

In terms of questions, you might want to ask about resources specifically available within the college for psychology students, the number of psychology students they typically admit each year, what support systems they have in place for students, and their accommodation policies (some colleges can guarantee accommodation for all years, others can't).

But don't stress too much about choosing the 'right' college for psychology because your education will be managed by the Department of Psychology, not the college you're in.
