What's the best college for I/O psychology?

Hey, everyone. I'm pretty set on pursuing Industrial/Organizational psychology but having a hard time finding info on which colleges have strong programs in this field. Could you help a fella out and suggest some top I/O psychology colleges?

Sure, I can definitely help with that! Firstly, it's fantastic that you've already pinpointed Industrial/Organizational (I/O) psychology as your field of interest. Now, when it comes to identifying colleges with strong I/O psychology programs, a significant factor will be whether you're looking at the undergraduate level or graduate level.

For graduate level programs, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology conducts rankings, and Michigan State University, Pennsylvania State University, and the University of Minnesota consistently come out on top.

However, if we're talking undergraduate programs, the landscape may be different. Not all schools offer a dedicated I/O psychology major at the undergraduate level. Instead, many schools offer a general psychology program, where you can opt to focus on I/O psychology through various electives and independent research.

Schools that have a dedicated I/O psychology faculty (which means they probably have more I/O psychology coursework and research opportunities) include Cornell University, University of South Florida, Penn State University, and Michigan State University.

Regardless of the program you choose, try to look for opportunities to get involved in research or internships related to I/O psychology, as these kind of experiences can significantly enhance your graduate school application or job prospects. Good luck with your college search!
