Looking for Colleges with Strong Psychology & Social Work Programs

Hey, does anyone have any recommendations for colleges that have really strong programs both in psychology and social work? I have this big goal of using psychology to improve social services. I'm just not sure what colleges might align with this vision and provide a sturdy foundation for it.

Sure, I'm happy to offer some suggestions! Firstly, it's important to note that social work is a specific discipline, and not all schools have undergraduate programs in it. Sometimes, a school may offer a major in Human Services, which could also be helpful if your goal is to work in social services.

As for specific colleges, the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor is known for its strong programs in both psychology and social work. While the School of Social Work primarily offers graduate programs, they do have an undergraduate minor in community action and social change which may align with your interests.

The University of California, Berkeley also has well-regarded psychology and social welfare programs. Their social welfare program has an emphasis on societal challenges and promoting social justice which might resonate with your career objectives.

You might also want to look at New York University. Their Silver School of Social Work offers a Bachelor's in Social Work, and NYU's psychology program is also well-known.

Another strong option is the University of Pennsylvania, which offers psychology and a major in sociology with a concentration on the 'Health and Welfare' track. This could be a great fit for your interests.

Remember, when you're looking at programs, you'll want to look into what specific concentrations or specialties they offer, and what research opportunities are available for undergraduates, as these can provide valuable experiences and networking opportunities on your chosen path.

When it comes to deciding on a college, it's important to look beyond the strength of the programs and make sure the overall atmosphere, campus culture, location, and other aspects align with what you're looking for in a college experience. Best of luck with your search!
