Hey everyone! I'm starting the whole college search process and looking at programs in Criminal Justice. Can anyone point out some top California colleges that I should consider for this field?

Hello! Great to hear you're looking at Criminal Justice programs, which can offer interesting and rewarding career paths.

The University of California, Irvine (UCI) has a well-regarded criminology program through their Department of Criminology, Law and Society. The program emphasizes the connection between theories of crime and the application of these theories in real-world settings.

Additionally, University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley)'s Legal Studies program could be highly relevant. While it's not strictly 'Criminal Justice', it offers a multidisciplinary approach that includes areas like criminal law, laws of evidence, and a lot of other legal aspects which may be of interest to you.

Next, the University of Southern California (USC) offers a Bachelor's degree in Forensic and Criminal Justice through their Department of Sociology. It's noteworthy for its emphasis on both theoretical understanding and applied knowledge.

That said, if you're willing to look at the Cal State schools, CSU Long Beach is known for their Criminal Justice program. The school touts a highly-regarded faculty and a comprehensive curriculum.

Finally, don't forget to look into San Diego State University (SDSU) as well. Their Criminal Justice program offers a comprehensive study in areas of law enforcement, corrections, and judicial processes.

Do note that as you evaluate these programs, consider not just the content of the curriculum but also other factors that might be important to you, such as potential internship opportunities, faculty, campus life, and financial aid available to you. Good luck with your college search!
