HBCUs with strong Psychology programs?

Hey! I've always been inclined towards HBCUs, and I've recently developed a keen interest in Psychology. So, do you guys know any reputed HBCUs with strong Psychology courses?

Sure, there are quite a few HBCUs known for their strong Psychology programs and research opportunities. Here's a shortlist:

1. Howard University: Their Psychology department offers comprehensive undergraduate and graduate programs, including a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. As one of the top HBCUs, they have a unique focus on the understanding and promotion of positive mental health in diverse, disenfranchised, and under-served populations.

2. Spelman College: This all-women's HBCU has a Psychology department with an extensive range of courses and focuses on developing research skills. The department also offers a unique program called the Spelman College Independent Scholars (SCIS) program, designed for outstanding students interested in pursuing research projects beyond their regular coursework.

3. Morehouse College: This all-men's HBCU offers a comprehensive Psychology program with various research opportunities. One unique aspect of Morehouse's program is its emphasis on the African American perspective within the psychological sciences.

4. Hampton University: Hampton's Psychology undergraduate program offers a solid foundation in psychology principles, as well as research opportunities. For graduates, they offer a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and an MA in Counseling with a concentration in School or Community Agency Counseling.

These programs, among many others at HBCUs, offer a unique cultural perspective. While all these schools have strong programs, I recommend reaching out to current students or faculty at these universities or attending virtual events to get a feel for which one is best for you. Best of luck in your college search!
