GMC's Golf Team

Hey everyone, does anyone know anything about Georgia Military College's golf team? I'm a junior golfer and planning on applying to colleges soon. What's the recruitment process like and what does it take to get onto their team?

Georgia Military College, like many other colleges, has a golf team that admits athletes based on both their athletic ability and academic performance. Golf recruitment at smaller colleges like GMC generally involves the athlete reaching out to the college's athletic recruiting office or directly to the coach to express interest and share their golf stats, such as tournament scores and handicap.

The recruitment process often begins the summer before your senior year of high school, so now would be a good time for you to get started. You should compile a recruitment letter to send to the golf coach, which would ideally include a brief introduction about who you are as both a student and an athlete, your athletic achievements, your academic accomplishments, and your contact information. Also, consider adding a link to a highlight video showcasing your golf skills.

Remember to keep your academics strong as well. Although athletic ability is paramount in recruitment, your academic prowess will likely also be evaluated to ensure that you will be able to balance both the athletic responsibilities and academic expectations.

As for the skills required to make Georgia Military College's golf team, while I couldn’t find specific golf standards online, generally, being able to consistently score in the 70s on a regulation course puts you in a competitive spot for many college golf programs.

It's always a good idea to directly reach out to the sports department at GMC to gain a more insightful understanding of their specific recruitment process and criteria for the golf team. This will not only help you have a clearer plan but will also demonstrate your proactive approach and keen interest in their program.

Best of luck with your golf aspirations!
