Opinions about Georgia Military College?

This may be kind of open-ended, but what's your overall opinion on Georgia Military College? Is there any unique aspect that sets it apart from other military colleges? I'm having a hard time deciding where I want to apply.

Georgia Military College (GMC) definitely has some distinguishing features that might be attractive to certain students. First and foremost, its two-year program is built to be accessible and allows students the flexibility to transfer credits to a four-year institution where they can then complete their Bachelor's degree.

In terms of military environment, despite its name, GMC offers a civilian student experience alongside their Corps of Cadets program. Thus, you have the opportunity to be part of a military-style education system without necessarily being a cadet.

It's important to note that Georgia Military College is not considered a senior military college like VMI or The Citadel. This affects its ROTC program, as graduates of senior military colleges have a higher likelihood of receiving an active duty assignment straight out of college.

Additionally, due to its community college aspect, GMC offers a more affordable option compared to many other four-year institutions. It uses an open admissions policy, which means they accept anyone with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Finally, many students find the smaller class sizes to be a beneficial aspect of GMC, noting that instructors often know their students by name and are readily available for extra assistance or advice.

Remember, when deciding on college, think about what kind of environment will contribute to your academic and personal growth. Hopefully, this gives you a better sense of what you would be getting with an institution like Georgia Military College.
