Juggling College and the Military

I've been thinking about enlisting while also attending college. Is it possible to realistically juggle both? Could anyone share their experiences?

Absolutely, pursuing college while being a part of the military can be challenging but it is certainly doable. Most colleges offer online or part-time courses that allow you to continue your education while serving. It is important, however, to be realistic about your time commitments. Balancing your educational pursuits with your military obligations will require some time-management skills and prioritization.

The military also offers assistance to service members seeking higher education. For instance, the Post-9/11 GI Bill and the Tuition Assistance program provide financial aid and can be used to fund your education. In many instances, these can cover all or a large part of your tuition, making college much more affordable.

Several military personnel have successfully completed college while serving. These individuals suggest taking advantage of study time during breaks in duty, leveraging military experience for course credit, and utilizing available support services designed for military students.

Keep in mind that your journey will be unique, based on your military responsibilities and the demands of your chosen course of study. Therefore, it's a good idea to sit down with a college advisor or academic counselor, ideally one who is knowledgeable about the needs and concerns of military students, in order to devise a realistic academic plan.
