Best Schools in Texas for Criminal Justice and Psychology?

Just a stressed junior here looking to pursue a double major in criminal justice and psychology. I'm having a hard time finding a good list of Texas schools that have strong programs in both. Have any of you guys gone this route or have any advice?

First of all, congrats on having such a specific and interesting academic interest! That's always helpful when it comes to college applications.

There are several schools within Texas that house strong programs in both criminal justice and psychology. Here are some options:

1. The University of Texas at Austin: UT Austin has strong programs in both areas. For psychology, UT Austin is particularly known for its research intensity and broad course offerings. Their criminal justice program, through their School of Social Work, is also highly regarded.

2. Sam Houston State University: Especially known for its College of Criminal Justice which offers a very comprehensive curriculum with numerous opportunities for internships and hands-on experience. Their Department of Psychology and Philosophy also provides a solid psychology program.

3. Texas State University: Based in San Marcos, Texas State also has robust programs in both criminal justice and psychology, offering students various opportunities for research, internships, and study abroad options in both fields.

4. Texas A&M University: While the university may be better known for its engineering and agricultural programs, the criminal justice and psychology programs are also very strong, providing a good blend of theory and practice.

Remember, the 'best' school will also depend on what you're looking for outside of your academics. For instance, size, location, faculty-to-student ratio, cost, and student life can all play a significant role in your college experience. Therefore, it's crucial that you look at these aspects along with academic strength when deciding which schools to apply to. You may also want to consider visiting campuses (if possible) or talking to current students to get a real sense of what these colleges are like. Best of luck with your college search process!
