Going to College at 22 after Military Service

I've ended my military service and I'm considering going to college at 22. Do you guys think it's too late? How are older students generally perceived in the admissions process? Looking forward to your responses!

It's great that you're considering pursuing higher education after your military service! The age of a student is typically not a stumbling block; in fact, many colleges often value the unique perspectives and life experiences that non-traditional students such as yourself bring to the student body.

Colleges and universities are generally very accommodating to students of all ages, and veterans, in particular, are highly respected for their incredible service. Life experience, growth, and maturity are often seen as valuable assets, which may bring depth to both your application and your eventual contribution to the campus community.

Many institutions even have programs and supports specifically designed for veteran students. For example, they might offer academic advising tailored to veterans, mental health resources, and career services that recognize and build upon your military experience.

Remember, it's never "too late" to pursue an education. Twenty-two is still a young age, and your journey is just beginning in many ways. College can provide new opportunities and paths, no matter when you choose to attend. And lastly, it's quite common for students to start at an older age, so you'll certainly be in good company. Best of luck!
