What Colleges are Good Choices for Military Personnel?

I've just enlisted in the military but don't want to lose sight of my education down the road. What are some institutions that are known for being supportive and accommodating to veterans? Are there colleges that might offer decent financial aid programs?

There are numerous colleges and universities that excel at supporting and accommodating veterans. These institutions often have programs, resources, and benefits specifically tailored to the needs of veterans.

Let's start with Syracuse University, which has a dedicated Office for Veteran and Military Affairs that offers support, and resources and a Veterans Career Services program that assists with job placement after graduation. Syracuse has been known for its longstanding commitment to veterans and its efforts transcend just providing financial aid by offering comprehensive support to facilitate a smooth transition back into academic and civilian life.

Next is Georgetown University, which has a Veterans Office to aid the transition of military personnel into student life. This includes academic and career counseling, mental health resources, and disability services. Georgetown's Yellow Ribbon Program also aids in financing the cost of tuition that exceeds the maximum base pay amount provided by the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill.

Speaking of the Yellow Ribbon Program, it can be a great financial aid resource. It's a provision of the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill that allows veteran students to attend costly institutions by covering additional expenses that exceed benefits provided by the G.I. Bill. Many institutions are part of this program.

Lastly, the Arizona State University is worth considering. The University has a Pat Tillman Veteran Center which provides a comprehensive suite of resources and services such as one-on-one guidance, financial assistance help, and a strong community to help veterans thrive academically.

No matter which university you choose, consider if it participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program, offers dedicated support services, and has a vibrant community of current and former service members. It might help to reach out to these institutions' military and veterans’ affairs offices for additional details.
