Harold Washington College: Military Transcripts

Hey friends, is anyone familiar with Harold Washington College and how they handle military transcripts? I want to possibly serve in the military and am considering taking some courses there afterward. Thanks for any help!

Certainly, Harold Washington College, like many institutions, honors the service and experience of military personnel by accepting military transcripts for consideration of transfer credit. This can provide a valuable head start for former service members who wish to pursue further education.

To do this, they will need to request an official transcript from the appropriate branch of the service.

For the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, this would be a Joint Services Transcript (JST), while for the Air Force, it's a Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) transcript.

However, just like with any other incoming transcripts, it's important to keep in mind that the ultimate decision on what credits are accepted, and how they are applied, lies with the institution. In this case, Harold Washington College's registrar and appropriate academic departments will review the coursework listed on the transcripts to determine equivalencies with their courses.

It's also beneficial to reach out to the college directly and speak with an admissions advisor or someone in their Veterans Services department, who can provide specific guidance on transferring military credits.

Finally, online tools like the American Council on Education's Military Guide can also be helpful in understanding how military training and experiences may translate into academic credit.
