Non-Ivy League psychology programs?

So, I've been pretty set on majoring in psychology, but Ivy leagues aren't really my scene. Any recommendations for top-notch psy programs outside the Ivy League? I'd appreciate it if you could also let me know what sets them apart. Thanks in advance!

Sure, there are numerous universities outside of the Ivy League that offer excellent psychology programs. Here are a few worth considering:

1. Stanford University: Stanford's psychology program is considered one of the best in the world. It has a strong focus on research, and students have the opportunity to work closely with faculty on various projects. The university offers tracks in cognitive sciences, health and development, neuroscience, and social psychology.

2. University of Michigan (Ann Arbor): Their program is renowned for its breadth and depth of study. You can concentrate on areas like biopsychology, developmental psychology, personality psychology, and social psychology. As a major research university, there's ample opportunity for undergrads to engage in research.

3. University of California, Berkeley: UC Berkeley's psychology program is one of the most prestigious. It offers a wide variety of courses covering everything from cognitive neuroscience to social-personality psychology. Berkeley is also well-known for its highly accomplished faculty and rigorous coursework.

4. University of Chicago: Known for its emphasis on research, the psychology department at UChicago encourages students to get involved in research projects early on. The department also facilitates regular guest lectures from leading psychologists adding a valuable dimension to the academic experience.

5. University of Minnesota: This school is notable for its emphasis on experimental learning and offers opportunities to engage in real-world applications of psychological principles.

One thing to keep in mind when assessing psychology programs is faculty mentorship and research opportunities, which allow you to apply what you're learning in a practical context and will prove valuable if you plan to pursue a graduate degree. It may also be worth considering which subfield of psychology most interests you, as certain schools may be more renowned in specific areas.
