Which are the best colleges for research psychology?

Hi all, I'm a junior really invested in PI driven work and research since joining my school's psychology club. I want to pursue research psychology in college but I'm overwhelmed with all the options. Could anyone recommend colleges that excel in this field? Thanks!

Absolutely! There are numerous schools that have strong Psychology research programs.

1. Stanford University: Known for its research output and features numerous laboratories dedicated to various areas of psychology. They have a strong undergraduate program that emphasizes research, with many students getting involved as soon as their freshman year.

2. University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA): Established as being premiere in the field of Psychology, UCLA offers research opportunities across many areas of the discipline.

3. University of Pennsylvania: At UPenn, the psychology department is equipped with state-of-the-art research facilities, and many undergraduates attain research opportunities through their work-study programs.

4. University of Michigan, Ann Arbor: UMich is excellent for research psychology - they have the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program that gets you into research early in your college career.

5. Yale University: Yale's Department of Psychology places special emphasis on students' individual research programs.

It's also wise to pay attention to the research interests of the faculty at these institutions to see if they align with your own interests. Keep in mind, reaching out to potential faculty mentors and expressing interest can sometimes give an edge in admissions, as it showcases your serious investment in your chosen field. Lastly, remember to consider the overall fit of the university including size, location, culture, and financial feasibility when compiling your college list. Good luck with your college search!
