Recommendations for Psychology Colleges in Dallas?

Howdy! I'm currently a junior in high school looking to major in psychology. Dallas is one of my top picks for college cities, so does anyone have any recommendations?

Hi there! Considering you're interested in majoring in psychology and wish to stay in Dallas, there are a couple of institutions worth looking into.

Southern Methodist University (SMU) has a robust Department of Psychology which offers a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in psychological science. These programs offer a solid foundation in multiple facets of psychology. SMU also stands out because of their research opportunities and internship programs that can provide practical experiences in the field of psychology.

The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) also has a strong psychology program. They offer a Bachelor of Science in Psychology that emphasizes a strong grounding in scientific methods and critical thinking. UTD has a number of active research labs that focus on areas within psychology including cognition and neuroscience, and social/personality psychology among others.

Lastly, if you're considering a smaller college experience, you might want to check out the Dallas Baptist University (DBU). They offer a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Psychology. The department at DBU emphasizes developing a Christian perspective on the human mind and behavior, so it might be particularly appealing if you're interested in approaching your studies from that perspective.

Remember, it's not just about the reputation of the psychology department, but also about how you feel about the general campus culture, opportunities for internships or research, and other factors that can impact your college experience. Consider visiting the campuses, if you can, or connecting with current students or alumni to get a feel for each institution. Best of luck!
