What are the top colleges for psychology in Nebraska?

Hello! I'm a junior and doing some initial college research. Psychology is my main interest and I would really like to stay in Nebraska for college. Does anyone have any insight on the best colleges for psychology in Nebraska?

Certainly! There are a number of solid options for studying psychology in Nebraska.

1. University of Nebraska - Lincoln: The psychology program at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln is highly respected. They offer both a BA and a BS in Psychology, which allows students to align their degree to their career interests more effectively. They also offer a Ph.D. program, which could be a factor if you're considering staying on for graduate school.

2. Creighton University: Creighton University's psychology department provides a strong focus on research, which would be especially valuable if you're considering moving into a research role in the future. They offer a BA in psychology and much like UNL, they also have a Ph.D. program.

3. Nebraska Wesleyan University: This is a smaller university, but their psychology program is still quite robust. They have a focus on hands-on learning and offer many opportunities for internships, directed research, and service-learning projects.

4. University of Nebraska at Omaha: Their Bachelor's in Psychology program emphasizes the scientific method and the importance of critical thinking, which are invaluable skills in this field. They also have a graduate program in psychology.

5. Bellevue University: Known for its online study programs (though campus-based programs are also available), Bellevue’s BA in psychology program is designed around preparing students for a variety of careers post-graduation.

Remember to look beyond the academic program itself. Think about what kind of campus and community you want to be a part of. Visit the campus if possible, speak with current students and faculty in the psychology department, and look at what kind of research, internship, or job placement opportunities each school offers. Consider things like class size, extra-curricular activities, and housing options. Finding the right fit for your individual needs is just as important as the academic program itself!
