Florida-based Marine Military Colleges: Any Recommendations?

I'm a high school junior living in Florida and thinking about a military career, more specifically as a Marine. I've heard of a few Marine military colleges based in the state. Could anyone give me some info or personal experiences about what these colleges are like?

Sure, here's some information on the options you have in Florida. There are two primary institutions which have programs particularly suited to those interested in serving in the Marines: Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) and Florida State University (FSU).

At ERAU's campus in Daytona Beach, you can participate in the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC). This program prepares you for a commission in the Navy or Marine Corps. You can participate in the program while working on any degree that the university offers. Though it's not solely dedicated to Marine training, it's certainly an option to consider, especially given its renowned aeronautical programs.

Meanwhile, Florida State University in Tallahassee also offers an NROTC program. Just like at ERAU, students in this program are trained to become officers in the Navy and Marine Corps.

Remember that participating in NROTC programs at civilian institutions allows you to have a traditional university experience, including living on campus and participating in clubs or sports, while still preparing for a future military career.

However, keep in mind that getting into these NROTC programs can be competitive. It's always a good idea to speak with an admissions counselor or NROTC coordinator at the university you're interested in. They can provide a more in-depth understanding of what your time at that school would look like, both within and outside the NROTC program, and how to craft the strongest application possible, which demonstrates your fit for this unique path.

Good luck with your future endeavors!
