Is Indiana University Military-Friendly?

Hi everyone, I'm exploring my college options, and I'm interested in schools that offer strong support to military students. Does anyone know if Indiana University is known for being particularly welcoming and accommodating to military students?

Indiana University indeed has a reputation for being a military-friendly institution. They have a dedicated Center for Veteran and Military Students that works to assist student veterans, active duty military students, and their dependents. The office provides a wide range of services including assistance with the GI Bill and other educational benefits, guidance on available scholarships specific to military students, and connections to campus and community resources.

Additionally, the university hosts a Student Veterans of America chapter, which can offer peer support from fellow military students. They also have a designated Veterans Lounge on campus, a space for studying and socializing exclusively for military students.

Indiana University's efforts to support military students have been recognized nationally. In recent years, they've been listed on the Military Times Best for Vets: Colleges ranking, which affirms their commitment to serving those who have served our country.

Remember though that everyone's experience is different, so it might be beneficial to reach out to the Office of Veteran Support Services or current military students at Indiana University to get a feel for how the support services work in practice and whether they would meet your needs.
