NYC colleges offering Psychology - which one's the best?

Hello there! I'm super interested in majoring in Psychology and I'm based in New York City. Anyone have any recommendations of the best colleges in the city that have strong Psychology programs?

Hello! New York City offers quite a few excellent institutions with strong psychology programs.

Columbia University is at the top of the list. It has one of the finest psychology programs in the country. Its undergraduate psychology program allows for research opportunities and internships and offers stimulating coursework in cognitive, social, developmental, and abnormal psychology.

New York University (NYU) also has an exceptional psychology program, within their College of Arts & Sciences. They offer a B.A. in psychology which provides a broad understanding of human behavior, cognition, and emotion. Students have opportunities for research in labs and professors are known to be active in their fields.

Barnard College, a women's college affiliated with Columbia University, provides a strong program with access to all of Columbia's resources. The program is known for its faculty and offers a number of research opportunities.

Fordham University, with campuses in Manhattan and the Bronx, offers an excellent psychology program as well. It also has a strong emphasis on research with opportunities to specialize in areas like clinical psychology, social psychology, or developmental psychology.

You might also consider The New School's Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts which offers a distinctive curriculum with an emphasis on contemporary issues.

Each of these programs has its strengths so the "best" one depends on what you're looking for in a program. Is hands-on research a priority for you? Or are you more interested in a specific psychology discipline? Understanding what you want out of your education could help guide your decision.

Lastly, consider visiting the campuses (if you can) or checking out the schools' websites for more information on their psychology departments, courses, and faculty. This could offer more insight into what each program might offer and which one would be the best fit for you. Good luck with your search!
